Alumna Jennifer Meehan (BS-METR-2008) recently accepted a position in Washington, DC at the National Academy of Sciences as a member of the Division of Engineering and Physical Sciences (DEPS) Space Study Board, where she will play an integral role in advising Congress, federal organizations (including NOAA, NASA, NSF, DOE, and Homeland Security), and civilian space researchers on critical future challenges for the space science community. Jennifer started her research career at UNC Charlotte as an undergraduate honors student documenting hurricane structure under the advisement of Dr. Matthew Eastin. She is currently in the final stages of her PhD candidacy at Utah State University in the Space Weather Program, where she is developing critical corrections for ionospheric irregularities in Global Positioning System satellite data.
