Monica Dorning is the 2012-2013 Recipient of the Joanna R. Baker Memorial Graduate Fellowship
Ms. Dorning’s dissertation research is titled “Landscape Change and Human Environment Interactions: Implications for Natural Resource Management in Urbanizing Areas”. This Fellowship is among the most prestigious awards given by the Graduate School at UNC Charlotte. Established in honor of Professor Baker, in recognition of her vision and passion for interdisciplinary research, the Fellowship recognizes graduate students who have a commitment to the study and application of solutions to problems related to public and social policy. The Fellowship provides a cash award and travel funding. Ms. Dorning is the second geography Ph.D. student to earn this high honor. Her advisor is Dr. Ross Meentemeyer.
